Just 6 months after the last competition, which was delayed due to Covid-19, the Voiles Etudiantes du Havre powered by EM Normandie took to the seas once more for the 12th edition, with no limitations.

Around 40 sailing crews went head to head in the magnificent waters of the Le Havre bay, in the most friendly atmosphere, during the weekend of 26 and 27 March 2022. This regatta, organised with the Vague Normande Événement (Normandy Sailing League), and supported by the City of Le Havre, brings together students from many different higher education institutions who managed to secure a place in the highly popular annual student sailing contest.

Established in 2010 by the City of Le Havre with the logistical support of the Normandy Sailing League and its three local clubs (Société des Régates du Havre, Sport Nautique et Plaisance du Havre and the Centre Nautique Paul Vatine), the Voiles Étudiantes du Havre (VEH) attracts some 200 students from business and engineering schools and universities each year. The event consists of around 40 J/80 and First Class 7.5. boats, driven by the student crew members.

EM Normandie has been the official partner of the event, which was renamed Les Voiles Etudiantes du Havre powered by EM Normandie, since 2020. In addition to the sporting challenge, the aim of bringing the sailing amateurs and young business leaders of the future together is to promote the beauty and attraction of Le Havre and make participants want to go back for weekends, training, and even settle and work there in the future.

“This regatta gives student sailing crews the opportunity to meet, compete and share experiences over the course of a weekend. It is a wonderful, friendly occasion in Le Havre. EM Normandie is proud to help raise the profile of its historical city by being part of this unique sporting event which showcases the town’s coastline and brings students together with a focus on strong values and commitments shared by the school: the hunger for challenge, team spirit and respect for others,” adds Elian Pilvin (class of 1996), Dean of EM Normandie.

The ENS Paris Saclay, 1st in the EM Normandie general ranking and in the First Class 7.5, and the University of Le Havre Normandie, winner in the J/80, win the 12th edition of the Voiles Etudiantes du Havre powered by EM Normandie.
